T-town Wins, EHS Falls In Soccer Competition

Teutopolis High School won at both levels on their home pitch one last time this high school soccer season Monday.

The varsity Wooden Shoes blanked Greenville by a 7-0 count.

Ethan Thoele and Josh Habing led the way for the Shoes with two goals each. Joe Niebrugge, Cooper Tegeler and Gavin Tegeler scored one goal each.

"We also had five different guys with assists tonight," said T-town Coach Aaron Wendt. "Gavin Tegeler, Evan Waldhoff, Gavin Buening, Josh Habing and Ethan Thoele, all had one each."

The junior varsity was led in goal scoring by freshman Simon Lee with a hat trick. He scored three goals followed by Tyler Petersen and Joey Probst with two each and Landyn Buening and Chris Habing with one each.

"There were lots of assists to go around at the JV level as well," said Wendt. "Tyler Petersen had four and Simon Lee and Chris Habing had one each.

"The varsity and junior varsity both go undefeated at home this season. The varsity moved to 15-1 and the JV remained undefeated at 9-0.

"We travel to Olney today for our last game of the regular season for both levels. It's a 4:30 p.m. varsity start and the JV will follow."

 

At Effingham

Effingham lost to Richland County, 4-3 Monday.

Maicol Sefton scored one goal and had two assists for the Hearts. Camilo Aden and Andrew Wagoner had one goal each. Xander Marler finished with 11 saves.

"It was a tough match tonight," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "The final home game of the season is this Thursday against Charleston."
