CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois Director of Athletics Barbara Burke has announced that Panther women’s soccer head coach Summer Perala will step down from her position in July.

“I want to thank Coach Perala for her leadership of the EIU women’s soccer program over the past four years,” said Burke.  “I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.”

“I want to thank Barbara Burke and the administration for allowing me to serve as the head coach at Eastern Illinois over the past four years,” Perala said.  “While I have enjoyed my time as the head coach at Eastern Illinois I have decided to resign my position at this time to pursue other professional opportunities.”

Perala coached the Panthers for four seasons compiling a 25-41-13 record.  EIU made the OVC Women’s Soccer Tournament three times during Perala’s four years advancing to the semifinals in 2010.

EIU will open the 2013 season August 23 hosting Oakland University.
