Effingham High School is off to one of its best starts ever this soccer season.

The Hearts edged Mattoon by a 2-1 tally Tuesday. Maicol Sefton scored both of the EHS goals. Camilo Aden and Edu Crespo had an assist each. Xander Marler had six saves.

"We had a very hard fought game against a tough opponent in Mattoon," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "We played well together and got the win.

"This win extends our win streak to five straight to start the season. Our record is 5-0, giving us one of, if not the strongest starts to any season in EHS soccer history."
