Effingham, T-town Play to 2-2 Soccer Tie

Effingham and Teutopolis played to a 2-2 tie in soccer action Monday.

The Shoes' goals were scored by Josh Habing with an assist by Ethan Thoele and then Thoele scored with by assist by Joey Niebrugge.

Effingham freshman Maicol Sefton scored both goals. Senior Menphis Leasher had one assist and junior Xander Marler had seven saves. Senior Roy Arellano had two saves.

The Shoes are now 11-0-2 on the season and back to their home pitch Thursday when Centralia comes calling for a 7 p.m. varsity start.

"We played one of our best games I've seen this season," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "We came out strong the first half, putting together everything we have been working on, to gain a 1-0 lead going into halftime. In the second half, we fought hard to not lose the lead and ended up tying Teutopolis 2-2. We look to take this game and use it as fuel to get a win on the record this week. Tomorrow we will be versing Mahomet-Seymour at Mahomet and Thursday we will look to verse Lincoln at home."
