T-town Beats St. A, EHS Drops Soccer Match To CHS

Teutopolis beat Effingham St. Anthony, 8-1 in soccer competition Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes scored two goals in the first half and after a corner kick from Evan Mossman, T-town's goalkeeper lost the ball for a Bulldogs goal.

In the second half, the Shoes broke loose with six goals.

"In the second half, we tried to go for the tie," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "Which opened us up and Teutopolis scored three goals to secure the win. They scored another three goals in the rest of the half."

Nolan Runde and Ethan Thoele had two goals each for the Shoes while Josh Habing, Ethan Mette, Carter Davidson and Hjalte Madsen had one each.

Goals were assisted by Evan Waldhoff with two and Joey Niebrugge, Josh Habing and Tyler Peterson with one each.

T-town improved to 10-0-1 on the season and will travel to Carlyle Saturday for an 11 a.m. game.

 

At Effingham

Effingham hosted Charleston and fell to the visitors, 5-1 Thursday.

The lone goal for the Hearts came from freshman Andrew Wagoner with an assist by freshman Maicol Sefton.

Junior Xander Marler had six saves.

"The team is looking great," said EHS Coach Logan Arney. "We are still just trying to find our stride and play together as a complete team. We look to keep working at this when we got to Taylorville Saturday."
