Altamont High School edged Effingham St. Anthony, 3-2 in soccer competition Tuesday.

Altamont opened up the scoring with a goal in the first 10 minutes of the first half.

The Bulldogs' first goal came after a foul. Adrian Bustamante, a sophomore, took a free kick that bounced from the goalkeeper and a quick reactoni from Kevin Gonzalez got the ball in the back of the net.

"Kevin followed up with another goal from a long shot that went over the goalkeeper," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "Altamont's second goal came after a miscommunication between our defense and the goalkeeper. The third goal came after Altamont was awarded a penalty."

The next game for the Bulldogs is Thursday hosting Newton.
