Bulldogs Beat Hearts In Soccer, Altamont , T-town Win

Effingham St. Anthony blanked Effingham, 8-0 in high school soccer action Tuesday.

The first goal for the Bulldogs came from a corner at the 10th minute of the first half when Kevin Canales served a header to Adam Brandenburger. Three minutes later, Canales made another assist to Roberto Campos for the second goal.

Two minutes later, Campos scored his second goal on a pass from Will Fearday. Campos returned the favor to Canales when he passed for Canales' first goal of the match with seven minutes left in the first half.

With two mintues remaining, Canales surprised everyone when he scored directly from a corner kick and the Bulldogs led 5-0 at the half.

"Our defense and midfield did a great job," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "Adam opened up the second half with a solo goal, dribbling through the middle, taking the defenders and eatnig the keeper in the first eight minutes of the second half.

"Five minues later, Andrei Deaconescu scored his first goal of the season from a corner from Kevin using a header. Roberto then completed his hat trck two mintues later with a cross from George Scheidemantel.

"The players of the game were Kevin Canales with three assists and two goals, Roberto Campos with one assist and three goals and Adam Brandenburger with two goals and great movement in the middle."

The Bulldogs improve to 2-3 on the season and travel to Olney Thursday.

 

At Altamont

Altamont improved to 4-1 on the season with an 11-0 win over Vandalia Tuesday.

The Indians' Noah Klimpel was exceptional on the day, scoring the first five goals. He scored at 4:00, 7:00 and 9:20 on solo shots before getting an assist from Jack Lowry at the 20:20 mark. He tallied again at 20:40. Charlie Goeckner made it 6-0 to end the first half.

In the second half, Martin Cook scored at 21:00, Josh Overton at 22:00, Matt Deal at 24:00, Braden Grunloh at 26:20 and Hayden Summers at 34:20.

Altamont had 16 shots, 10 on goal. Conner Klitzing was the goalkeeper.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis beat Charleston, 3-0 Tuesday.

Evan Waldhoff scored two of the Wooden Shoes' goals while Daniel Lee also tallied.

The Wooden Shoes improve to a perfect 5-0 on the season and is back to the pitch for their first away game of the season Saturday in Mount Vernon.
