Bulldogs Drop Close Match, Shoes Fall To Lincoln

Effingham St. Anthony dropped a 3-2 loss to Arthur in high school soccer competition Monday.

"We had a very competitive game," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes. "Luke Swingler and Wade Lawrence each scored a goal. Adam Brandenburger had a great game leading the defense and joining the attack.

"Joshua Blanchette had a great defensive game and George Scheidemantel had a great game playing in the midfield. Pierce Verdeyen had great saves and the underclassmen stepped up on this game, Marvin Rodriguez, Ivan Daiber and Curran Boggs."

The next game for St. Anthony is Saturday playing host to Decatur St. Teresa.

 

At Teutopolis

Teuitopolis fell to Lincoln in both junior varsity and varsity action and both teams lost by a 4-1 count Monday.

Matthew Deters tallied the lone goal for the Wooden Shoes in the varsity contest.

Daniel Lee was the scorer for T-town in the junior varsity contest.

T-town is back in action today at Mount Zion with a 4:30 p.m. varsity start with the junior varsity following.
