Effingham St. Anthony spilt wins during Friday and Saturday high school soccer play.

In Friday action, the Bulldogs blanked Olney, 3-0. The two teams finished the first half tied with no goals. In the second half, Wade Lawrence scored for the Bulldogs with 37 minutes left.

Olney got a penalty and Pierce Verdeyen stopped the shot at the line. In the last three minutes, Lawrence scored two more goals for his second hat trick of the season. Both goals came on assists from Luke Swingler.

"Trey Brummer controlled the midfield while Adam Brandenburger was the best defensive player," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes.

St. Anthony then fell to Decatur St. Teresa, 4-1 in Saturday action.

"Our only goal came in the second half on a pass from Trey Brummer to Wade Lawrence, who scored after a big effort," said Reyes. "Once again, Adam Brandenburger had a great defensive game."
