Effingham and St. Anthony soccer players battle for the ball in competition Tuesday.

Bryan Angel and Tucker Moeller scored two goals each and six other players tallied a goal apiece in downing Effingham St. Anthony 10-3 in soccer competition Tuesday.

"It was a sluggish start for us as we just weren't movnig the ball or defending like I know we can," said EHS Coach Weston Peno. "It took some motivating and a very tight game at 3-2 at the end of the first half to get us fired up.

"Once we found our rhythm and started communicating, we began to play the way I know we can. The defense was strong and the ball movement up front was very nice. The creative plays my team ran were also a testament of their willingness to work together as a team.

"I am very proud of my team for their work ethic and heart. We have a lot to learn, but we are on the right track."

Scoring a goal each were Victor Huge Carrillo, Oswaldo Angel, Josh Bowlin, Andrew Qiu, Parker Siner and Jett McMillan. Brandon Duncan had six saves.

"Brandon did a great job at reading the plays and making smart decisions tonight," said Peno. "He has really come a long way."

Jack Elder scored two goals for the Bulldogs while Luke Swingler had the other goal. Ivan Dong had 16 saves. Will Swingler and Landon Adams had an assist each.

"We finished the first half down just 3-2 and then scored the third goal at the beginning of the second half," said St. Anthony Coach Martin Reyes.
