The last two local high school soccer teams still alive in post-season action saw their seasons come to an end Tuesday.
At the 1A Sectional at St. Anthony, Carlinville defeated Teutopolis 4-0. Carlinville had won their own regional to advance to sectional action, while Teutopolis had won the Olney Regional.
At the 2A Regional at Mattoon, Mt. Zion defeated Effingham 3-0. Mattoon defeated Charleston 5-3 in the other semifinal game, so it'll be Mattoon vs. Mt. Zion for the regional championship Saturday morning. Effingham finishes the season with a 13-5-3 record, setting a Hearts' soccer record for most victories.
