CARLINVILLE -- The Effingham St. Anthony soccer team traveled to Carlinville for a weekend tournament and finished eighth.
In the opening match, Carlinville blanked St. Anthony 5-0. The Bulldogs played Riverton to a 1-1 tie but lost the match on penalty kicks.
St. Anthony then fell to Greenville 4-0.
"We held every team we played to a 0-0 tie but we kept letting up in the second half," said St. Anthony Coach Scott Demers. "Although we're playing great at times, we need to play a solid 80 minutes. For their leadership and great play, tournament MVPs for our team were Benton Hakman and Nick Nosbisch."
The Bulldogs are now 6-10-2 on the season and will be back in action Tuesday hosting Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran at 4:30 p.m.
