Effingham St. Anthony High School played host to Pana in soccer action Saturday and downed the Panthers 4-2.
In the first half, Francesco DeFillippi and Nick Nosbisch scored goals. Pana's Alex Metzger and Logan Dameris (penalty kick) also scored goals for a 2-2 tie.
In the second half, it was all St. Anthony as the Bulldogs pushed across two more goals when Nosbisch scored and Benton Hakman tallied.
The Bulldogs had 19 shots, 12 on goal. Pana had nine shots, five on goal. St. Anthony had three saves while the Panthers had eight saves.
Nosbisch was named St. Anthony Player of the Game.
"Nick had two clutch goals and led the team through a physicall and adverse game," said St. Anthony Coach Scott Demers. "Other players of note were Benton Hakman, Francesco DeFillippi, Kyle Hartke, a starting freshman, and Nick Wortman."
The Bulldogs are now 6-6-2 on the season and return to action Tuesday hosting Arthur-Lovington at 4:30 p.m.
