St. Anthony traveled to Olney to play the Tigers Thursday.

"Today was somewhat humid, but still a good day for soccer," said Bulldog Coach Eric Morales. "Olney had some good attempts in the first 15 minutes of the first half, but our keeper was there waiting and ready for everything.

"It was a lot of back and forth through the first half, both teams challenging each other. With only two minutes left in the half, James Kabbes threw the ball in and connected with Donovan Hammer on a header right into the goal, putting us up 1-0 just before the half ended.

"As the second half started, the sun was going down and the nice cool breeze started to set in. We came out ready, firing everything they had on Olney. About 15 minutes in, Kabbes found Ryan Kruger for a nice shot on goal to net another Bulldog goal, which sealed the game for us.

"We finished with 20 shots on goal to Olney's eight. Nick Grunloh had five saves on the night."

St Anthony improves to 10-1 on the season, taking a 10 game winning streak back on the road to Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Saturday.

The Bulldogs junior varsity also played a game and came home with a 2-0 win. The Bulldogs got goals from Moises Lemus and Wade Wenthe and improve to 4-1. They will see their next action Tuesday against Altamont.

At Effingham

Effingham edged Salem 2-1 in an Apollo Conference matchup Thursday.

The scoring opened with Christopher Berglund-Gustafsson scoring on an assist by Brady Jackson with 23:37 left in the first half. Ashton Haythorne then scored with an assist from Sean Zerrusen with 22:17 remaining in the opening half. The scoring was finished in the first half when Andrew Banning tallied an unassisted goal with 15:33 left.

Effingham's Jared Minor had eight saves while Salem had three saves.

The Hearts improve to 3-5-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in the Apollo Conference.

EHS fell in the junior varsity match, 2-0.

At Altamont

Altamont edged Raymond Lincolnwood 1-0 to improve to 5-6-1 on the season Thursday.

Jesus Flores scored at the 24:29 mark in the first half. Altamont had 11 shots, four on goal. Sam Childerson had 10 saves.

Raymond Lincolnwood had 19 shots, 10 on goal and four saves.

"I have to tip my hat to our defense tonight," said Altamont Coach Jeff Walton. "It was a well fought and tough competition to play with foul after foul being called for very little physical play. They outweighed the opponent on making stops to uphold the 1-0 victory.

"Raymond-Lincolnwood had some talented offensive players that tested the back line all night. Our midfield play has to improve. We controlled the flow okay for the night, but allowed quick bursts of life to the Raymond-Lincolnwood team. Our penalty kick came on a questionable call, however, we stepped up and found the back of the net. A great rebound win for us after the punishment we received from Breese Mater Dei."

Raymond Lincolnwood captured the junior varsity match 2-0. Altamont drops to 2-4 on the season.

At Pana

Teutopolis edged Pana 3-2 in competition Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes' Andy Mersman scored two goals and Jacob Mette added the third score. Jon Beck had five saves for the Shoes.
