"A wonderful evening for soccer, a change from Tuesday night's weather," said St. Anthony High School Soccer Coach Eric Morales. "We hosted Harrisburg for an exciting game Thursday evening.

"We started the game really sluggish and slow to the ball, with Harrisburg almost finding the net on three different occasions. Ten minutes into the game, Ryan Kruger found Lexi Mendella on a nice pass across the goal and Lexi was able to find the back of the net. With nine minutes left in the game, Andy Saba passed the ball to Ryan to find an open goal and connect on our second goal before the half.

"In the second half, we continued to take shot after shot on goal until finally Ryan was able to find the goal again from an assist by James Kabbes. Then again just a few minutes later the pair teamed up as Ryan connected on his second goal of the game, putting us up 4-0. Finally, with minutes left in the game, freshman Moises Lemus was able to kick the ball over the goalie just right to net, his first goal of the season.

"We played a very good game. I saw a lot of improvements in the squad compared to our first game of the season. We have matured a lot since game one, and I am very proud of this team for all the hard work they have put forth."

St. Anthony is now 7-1 and heads to DecaturSaturday to play St. Teresa.

At Charleston

At Carlyle

The Altamont Indians traveled to Carlyle Thursday night and brought home a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

In the 21st minute, Mitchell Stevenson played a ball through Carlyle's defensive line and Jesus Flores dribbled around the Carlyle goalkeeper and put the ball in the net to put Altamont ahead. Altamont's Christian Freezeland put four shots on goal, but couldn't get the ball to go in the net.

The Indians had 22 shots, nine of which were on goal. At the other end of the field, Altamont keeper Sam Childerson had four saves.
