EHS Drops Close Soccer Match To Mattoon

Effingham High School played host to Mattoon and fell to the Green Wave in soccer action Thursday, 1-0.
"It was a muddy mess," said EHS Coach Aaron Witges.
Mattoon's Cole Kidwell scored the only goal of the game. The Green Wave had five shots on goal while EHS had only two shots on goal.
Effingham's Frank Kasdorf had four keeper saves while Mattoon's MJ Brand had two saves.
The Green Wave won the Apollo Conference title with a 7-0-3 record. The Hearts drop to 3-2-4 on the season in the conference and are 7-6-5 overall. EHS will play today hosting Mount Zion in a makeup match from Tuesday.
