EHS, Altamont Capture Soccer Victories

OLNEY -- Effingham High School edged Olney 1-0 in soccer competition Monday.

The Hearts' Tyler Katz connected on a penalty kick at 24:45 into the first half for the lone goal of the game. Frank Kasdorf had six saves. The Hearts and Olney both had six shots on goal.

Effingham improves to 5-5-5 on the season.

In the junior varsity contest, Olney blanked Effingham 4-0.

 

At Altamont

Altamont played host to Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran and captured a 7-1 win.

Alby Reyo Moreno scored first for the Indians but Christ Our Rock Lutheran came back to tie the score before the half.

In the second half, the Indians broke loose with six goals. Moreno scored three more goals, making it 4-1. Jesus Flores then scored with an assist by Christian Freezeland. Flores scored an unassisted goal and it was 6-1. The final goal came from Thomas Caravello with an assist from Freezeland.

Altamont had 28 shots, 13 on goal. Childerson had two saves. CORL had seven shots, three on goal and six saves.

Altamont is now 5-10-1 on the season.
