At Effingham

St. Anthony and Arthur/Lovington squared off for the first time this season and the Bulldogs pulled out a 2-0 victory.

"It turned out to be a wonderful game," said St. Anthony Coach Eric Morales. "A.L.A.H came out very aggressive and strong the frist 20 minutes of the game. They came at the defense putting pressure on us over and over, having their first and only four shots on goal of the half.

"We finally came forward and began to play, moving the ball well, pressuring their goalie over and over. With 12 minutes left in the first half, Ryan Kruger won the ball out of the air, dribbled over to the center and touched the ball over to Peter Keller, who quickly regained his balance and found the back of the net as the half came to an end.

"The second half started and we again stepped it up, playing possession the whole game, moving the ball very well. With 16 minutes played into the second half, Peter found himself tracking the ball down on a lose ball, poking it over to Donovan Hammer who placed a nice left foot shot across the goal and just passed the goalie.

"We held Arthur/Lovington to just six shots all game and we finished with 16 shots on goal."

St. Anthony moves its record to 13-2-2 and travels to Mattoon Friday evening to play the Green Wave for the first round game of their tournament.
