Effingham St. Anthony hosted Breese Central, a new addition to the Bulldog soccer schedule this year, and captured a 3-0 victory Tuesday.

"Our guys had to bring their A game," said St. Anthony Coach Eric Morales. "We came out very strong, passing the ball very well. Breese contested our play throughout the first 10 minutes."

At 37:37 in the first half, Peter Keller spotted a bouncing ball coming out of the 18 and launched it back in putting the Bulldogs up 1-0. Twenty minutes later, Thomas Stephens gave Ryan Kruger a pass. Kruger then chipped a shot from roughly 30 yards out over the keeper putting the Bulldogs up 2-0 before the half ended.

"We held possession of the ball most of the half," said Morales. "With five minutes left in the game, James Kabbes, back from an injury, gave a nice pass to Chandler Martelli to put one final goal in making it a 3-0 game."

St. Anthony held Breese to just three shots all game.

"I'm very pleased with our play today," said Morales. "Special mention to Kyle Hartke for keeping our defense strong and together."

The Bulldogs played to a 1-1 tie with Breese Central in junior varsity play that ended due to darkness after one half.

St. Anthony has a 5-2-2 varsity record and will host Olney Thursday.
