Team USA Faces Czech Republic
(Sochi, Russia) -- Team USA men's hockey takes the ice today against the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament. A win would send the U.S. through to the semifinal against either Canada or Latvia. The puck drops at 11 a.m.
Ligety Has Big Lead In Giant Slalom
(Krasnaya Polyana, Russia -- American skier Ted Ligety has jumped out to a huge lead after the first runs in the men's giant slalom. Ligety is 0.93-seconds ahead of Ondrej Bank of the Czech Republic entering the second runs. Fellow American Bode Miller is over two-and-a-half seconds back in 26th place.
Ladies Figure Skating Starts Today
(Sochi, Russia) -- Figure skating competition resumes today with the ladies short program. Americans failed to medal for the first time since 1964 in Vancouver four years ago. The U.S team is led by Gracie Gold, Polina Edmunds and Ashley Wagner. Korea's Kim Yuna is the reigning gold medalist.
Curling Semifinals Set For Today
(Sochi, Russia) -- The semifinals in the Olympic curling tournaments are set for today. Great Britain will take on Canada while Sweden meets Switzerland on the women's side. The men's bracket features Sweden against Great Britain and Canada hooking up with China.
Dutch, Americans Share Medals Lead
(Sochi, Russia) -- The Netherlands and United States are atop the medal count in Sochi, with each nation having won 20 so far. All 20 medals won by the Dutch have come in some speed skating competition. Russia is next with 19 overall medals while Norway owns 18.
