Whitney Young High School Principal Rickey Harris Elected To IHSA Board; Four Other Board Members Re-Elected

Voting for seats on the Illinois High School Association Board of Directors and Legislative Commission closed at midnight on Tuesday, October 1, with the results being tallied and certified on Wednesday morning, October 2.

Four current members of the IHSA Board of Directors won re-election, including Olympia High School Athletic Director Mike Castleman (Division 5), Carterville High School Principal Todd Rogers (Division 7), Glenbard East Athletic Director D'Wayne Bates (At-Large), and De La Salle Institute Principal Tom Schergen (At-Large).

The lone new member of the Board of Directors is Whitney Young High School Principal Rickey Harris, who will represent Division 1.

"As a newly elected member of the IHSA Board of Directors, I am honored to have the opportunity to serve and support our student-athletes, coaches, and schools across Illinois," said Harris. "Together, we will continue to foster a culture of sportsmanship, integrity, and excellence, ensuring that high school athletics remain a positive and enriching experience for all."

The Board will elect its officers for the 2024-25 school term at its regular meeting on Wednesday, October 16.

IHSA member schools nominated candidates for the Board of Directors and Legislative Commission beginning on August 11. The nominations were tallied on September 18 and votes were cast from September 20 through October 1.

Results of the elections are listed below. The names of the candidates are indicated in the following list, with an asterisk preceding the name of the person elected to each seat.
