Larry Wilson, Lindell Smith Enters National Athletic hall of Fame In the Media Category

The National Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee announced the inaugural class of 2024 inductees for the Media category.

Former sports broadcaster Larry Wilson was the long-time voice of Effingham sports for over 41 years. During Larry's career he called games for baseball, basketball and football.

Sportswriter Lindell "Smitty" Smith has covered sports in the area for many years and is a figure at area sporting events. Smitty has owned the Clay County Republican newspaper since the early 2000's.

The induction ceremony will be held on the evening of Friday, November 15 at the Teutopolis Banquet Hall in Teutopolis.
