Husted Wins At Opening Day Of State Fair Harness Racing

Husted claimed the fourth race on the agenda, the Illinois Department of Agriculture Two-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace.

Husted and Fox Valley Stoll went the distance with a time of 1:55 4/5. Husted's wife Amy is the trainer.

In other highlights on the card, Wyatt Avenatti, the driver who won six of eight races last week at the Effingham County Fair in one day and set three records, won three races at the State Fair.

Avenatti drove I Understand to the win in the Three-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace in 1:53. He also claimed the 12th race, the Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace with Truly  A Winner in 1:59 3/5. He then picked up the Three-Year-Old Fillies Pace behind Shes Brookes Star in 1:53.

Marcus Miller was the big winner on the day, capturing five victories. He claimed the ninth race, the Three-Year-Old Colts & Geldings Pace behind Ashlees Silver Guy in 1:54.2. Miller then took the Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace with Little Miss Loie in 1:59.

Miller then took Fox Valley Hottie to victory in the Two-Year-Old Fillies Pace in 1:57.2. He finished out the program with back-to-back races winning the Three-Year-Old Fillies Pace behind Illini Belle in 1:55 and then drove Fox Valley Taran to victory in the Three-Year-Old Fillies Pace in the final race in 1:56.4.

Racing continues today with 15 races and Saturday with 11 races.
