Nominations Still Being Accepted For Class Of 2024 In National Athletic Hall Of Fame

The National Athletic Hall of Fame Selection Committee is continuing to accept nominations for the inaugural class of 2024 inductees.

The induction ceremony will be held on the evening of Friday, November 15 at the Teutopolis Banquet Hall in Teutopolis.

Nominations will continue to be accepted until July 1, 2024. Nominations may be submitted by going to www.nationalathletichalloffame.com or on Facebook at National Athletic Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame categories include: Former Student-Athletes, Professional Athlete, Coach/Administrator, Official, Media, Twelfth Man Award and Posthumous.

The National Athletic Hall of Fame was created to preserve and honor the rich history of sports and athletic achievements of individuals from area communities.

Through the recognition of persons or teams who have made outstanding contributions within their athletic program as athletes, coaches, athletic directors, officials and media who have in their post years contributed to their communities; and who have exemplified the finest ideals of athletics.

Elegibility / Induction Critera

Former Student-Athletes

1. The student/athlete must have made a major contribution to the athletic program as an athlete.

​2. A student /athlete must have graduated from high school or college at least ten (10) years prior to consideration for induction.

3. Have demonstrated high qualities of character and leadership during attendance and in their communities following graduation.

Professional Athlete

1. The professional athlete must have made a major contribution to their community as an athlete.

​2. A professional athlete must have graduated from high school or college at least ten (10) years prior to consideration for induction. The athlete must also have been a professional for at least (10) years prior to induction.

3. Have demonstrated high qualities of character and leadership during their professional career and in their communities.

Coach/Administrator

1. Must have a been a coach/administrator for at least ten (10) years.

​2. Has made a major contribution to the athletic program, shown growth in the program, and has been a leader in the program and the community.

Official

​1. Must have been an Official for at least twenty (20) years.

2. Has made a major contribution to the field of athletics as an official and their community.

Posthumous

1. A nomination received posthumously for any category shall receive equal consideration (waiting period may be waived).

 Media

1. Must have been a sports broadcaster or sportswriter for at least ten (10) years.

2. Has made a major contribution to the field of athletics and their community.

Twelfth Man Award

1. The Twelfth Man Award will be presented to any individual(s) or business who has given of their time, talents, and resources to further the athletic program.

2. The Twelfth Man Award shall be limited to one per year.

Josh Mathis is the Founder & CEO of the National Athletic hall of Fame. He is the Executive Director

Josh has spent over 16 years working in the field of athletics as a junior college assistant baseball coach including time as a high school and unit athletic director. He is a graduate of Olney Central College and Eastern Illinois University.
