Teutopolis Bass Fishing Teams Headed to State

The Teutopolis #1 and #2 bass fishing teams are headed to state tournament competition.

Teutopolis Team 1 won the sectional competition Thursday at Newton Lake, while Teutopolis Team 2 finished third, and the top three teams advance to State.

Derrick Gaddis is head coach for the Teutopolis teams. Team 1 consists of driver Lance Dasenbrock and the team members...Seniors Ethan Thoele and Austin Bloemer, Junior Brody Thoele, and Freshman Nolan Schumacher.

Team 2 includes driver Rod Brumleve and team members Devin Bloemer, Ross Deters and Garrett Gaddis, all Seniors, and Junior Dawson Hoene.

The Newton Team 2 finished second and also heads to State. Chris Bradley is the head coach. The team includes driver Matt Burgener and team members Senior Ian Fehrenbacher, Juniors Lain Burgener and Evan Johnson, and Sophomore Alex Gier.

Teutopolis Team 1 caught 22.67 pounds of fish, Newton 2 caught 15.98 pounds, and Teutopolis Team 2 caught 15.15 pounds.

Brody Thoele of Teutopolis won the Big Bass competition, at 5.97 pounds.

As far as other area teams at Newton Lake: Newton Team 1 finished eighth, Brownstown Team 2 finished 11th, and South Central Team 2 finished 14th.

At the sectional at Lake Shelbyville Thursday, no area teams advanced to State. Mt. Zion, Shelbyville and Okaw Valley were the top three finishers. Windsor Team 1 finished sixth and Neoga Team 1 finished seventh.
