Margin of Victory is third-closest finish in Cup Series History

Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez won the Ambetter Health 400 on Sunday in a spectacular three-wide finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Ross Chastain rallied to finish seventh after going one lap down during the event.

Suárez's Atlanta victory marks his second Cup Series career win.

Suárez battled three-wide with Ryan Blaney and Kyle Busch to take the checkered flag by .003 seconds over Blaney, third closest finish in Cup Series history.

It wasn't an easy day for Suárez. A 19-car accident on lap 3 collected Suárez's Chevrolet damaging the front end. He made several stops for repairs and finished the first stage in 19th. He rallied in the second stage to finish fourth.

Chastain moved from mid-pack to the front of the field finishing third in the first stage, but 28th in the second stage after a speeding penalty on lap 136 dropped him a lap behind the leader.

Chastain returned to the lead lap by taking the waive-around during lap-199 caution. About 20 laps later another caution flew to stack the field together and gave Chastain an opportunity to push forward from 18th. The Moose Fraternity driver continued to work his way forward and finished seventh.

Suárez's victory is Trackhouse Racing's seventh victory since it began NASCAR Cup Series racing 2021 when it started as a single- car team before expanding to two cars in 2022.

The victory likely ensures Suárez a spot in the 16-driver NASCAR Playoffs.

It was Suárez's second career victory (Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway in June 20022) and first of the 2024 season. He also owns three Xfinity Series and one Craftsman Truck Series victory.

Suárez is the only Mexican driver to ever win a NASCAR Cup Series event. He is one of six drivers not from the United States to win a NASCAR Cup Series race; Marcos Ambrose (Australia), Juan Pablo Montoya (Colombia) Earl Ross (Canada), Mario Andretti (Italy) and Trackhouse’s PROJECT91 driver Shane van Gisbergen (New Zealand.)

The next Cup Series race is Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
