Jet-Powered Dragsters at World Wide Technology Raceway Saturday (Revised)

ST. LOUIS – Jet-powered dragsters and fireworks will serve as the grand finale to an action-packed drag racing spectacular at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois. The KSHE Night of Fire & Thunder Back-to-School Bash brought to you in part by Travers Automotive and RV will take place on Saturday, August 19.

In addition to the 280-mile-per-hour Jet Dragsters and fireworks, the show will include the Mid-West Drag Racing Series, Pro Mods, Alcohol Funny Cars, the Straight Axle Mafia (traditional ‘60s Gassers), Nostalgia Drag Racing League and Nostalgia Super Stocks. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, with the final round of qualifying – followed by eliminations – at noon. The Larson Motorsports Jet Dragsters will run at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., with fireworks at 9:35 p.m.

Adult admission for Saturday, August 19, is $30. Teens 13-17 are $15 and kids 12 and under are free.

Qualifying will take place on Friday, August 18 for all classes, excluding Jet Dragsters. Spectator admission is $30 per carload.

Friday, August 18 – Qualifying

10 a.m. -- Spectator gates open.

10 a.m. – Time trials for Pro Mod, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman classes (carry over from postponed July 1 event); followed by eliminations for these classes.

3 p.m. – First round of qualifying for the KSHE Back-to-School Bash.

6:30 p.m. – First round of qualifying for Alcohol Funny Car, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman. Followed by second round of qualifying for Sportsman, Jr. Dragsters, Pro, NSS,

NDRL, Straight Axle Mafia, Outlaw 330 Jr. Dragsters.

9:30 p.m. – Second round of qualifying for Pro Mods, Alcohol Funny Cars, Top Dragsters, Top Sportsman.

Saturday, August 19 –

Fireworks, Jet Cars, eliminations for all classes, including Pro Mods and Alcohol Funny Cars

9:30 a.m. -- Spectator gates open.

10 a.m. -- 1/8-mile Box time trial. Third round of qualifying for Sportsman, Jr. Dragster, Pro, NSS, NDRL, Straight Axle Mafia, Outlaw 330 Jr. Dragsters.

12 p.m. -- Final round of qualifying for Pro Mods, Alcohol Funny Cars, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman.

Eliminations to follow.

3 p.m. – Driver autograph session.

4:30 p.m. – Eliminations continue for Pro Mods, Alcohol Funny Cars, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman.

7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. – Larsen Motorsports Jet Dragsters.

9:35 p.m. – Fireworks, brought to you by Captain Jim’s Fireworks.
