Teutopolis Champions in Bass Fishing State Tournament

CARLYLE -- Teutopolis High School captured the championship of the State Bass Fishing Tournament after competition at Carlyle Lake during the weekend.

The Wooden Shoes won the tourney with a total weight of 19 pounds, 3 ounces. Ethan Thoele, Devin Deters and Devin Bloemer pulled in 10 pounds, 4 ounces in Friday action and finished Saturday with 8 pounds and 15 ounces.

Their Coaches/Drivers were Derrick Gaddis and Lance Dasenbrock.

There were a total of 50 teams competing for the championship.

Second place went to Carlye No. 1 with 17 pounds, 13 ounces. Wheaton Warrensville South No. 2 was third at 16 pounds, 13 ounces. Fourth went to Petersburg PORTA with 13 pounds 5 ounces and rounding out the top five was Junction Gallatin County with 12 pounds, 8 ounces.

Big Bass went to Owen Boyer of Athens with a bass weighing 6 pounds, 3 ounces.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg finished 45th with 1 pound, 8 ounces. Members of the team were Hayden Porter, Myles Verdeyen, Oliver Wascher and Heath Westendorf. Coach/Driver was Patrick O'Dell.
