St. Anthony, EHS, T-town Swimmers Compete At Sectional

CHAMPAIGN -- Effingham St. Anthony, Effingham and Teutopolis swimmers competed in the Champaign Centennial Sectional Saturday. Only first place finishers advance to State.

Effingham St. Anthony's Mollie Slifer, Gracie Slifer and Cailey Dorris competed and did well. The Bulldogs finished ninth as a team with 42 points.

Gracie Slifer claimed second in the 100 yard free style and was third in the 50 yard freestyle. In the 100, she finished with a time of 55.85 and in the 50, she had a time of 25.68.

Mollie Slifer finished fourth in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:26.10 and was 10th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:17.03.

Cailey Dorris captured 10th in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:10.05 and 13th in the 50 yard freestyle in 27.18.

Effingham also had three swimmers competing. Julia Kinder placed 15th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:22.14 while Elle Hohenbary was 31st in 1:47.08.

Kinder finished 27th in the 50 yard freestyle in 30.66 and Hohenbary was 37th in 38.64.

Elizabeth Hirtzel was 16th in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:17.39 and 20th in the 100 yard freestyle in 1:13.18.

Swimming for Teutopolis was Elise Passalacqua who finished 12th in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:17.97 and 15th in the 50 yard freestyle in 27.78. Passalacqua earned a point for the Wooden Shoes who finished 25th as a team.
