Area Shooters Compete in National Championship

Teutopolis competed in the USA Clay Target League Nationals in Michigan. 

Area shooters competed July 6-10  in the National Clay Target League Championships at MTC Homegrounds in Mason, Michigan. They were among 3,000 high school students across the country taking part in the Nationals.

Shooters from Effingham, Altamont, Beecher City, Cumberland, Dieterich, St. Elmo, Stewardson-Strasburg and Teutopolis high schools took part in the Nationals.

Winning the boys' division was Aidan McKinney of Rock Creek, Kansas with a day one score of 99, a day two score of 100 for a final 199 total and a 121 reverse total.

The top Illinois competitor was Jake Mammosser of Gardner-S. Wilmington High School. He finished 10th with a 198 total.

Calhoun High School in Illinois won the boys team championship with a 490 day one score, a 487 day two score for a 977 total.

Teutopolis, Squad One finished 29th in the team standings with a 427 day one total, a 474 day two total for a 946. There were 232 teams entered.

In the girls division, Lillian West of North Ridge High School in Ohio won with a day one score of 98, a day two score of 99 for a final 197 and a 79 reverse total.
