Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas, who stirred controversey when she competed on the women’s team for Penn in her senior year after being on the men’s team for three years, and who won the womens’ 500-yard freestyle at the NCAA championships in March, plans to try to make the U.S. women’s Olympic swimming team.

Thomas, who has since graduated, said on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ Tuesday, “I intend to keep swimming. It’s been a goal of mine to swim at Olympic trials for a very long time, and I would love to see that through.”
