Neoga Advances To State Bass Fishing Tourney

SHELBYVILLE -- Neoga High School will be heading to the Bass Fishing State Tournament after competing in the Lake Shelbyville Sectional Thursday.

Neoga captured third place with the top three teams advancing to State. Broadlands Heritage No. 2 won the sectional with 11 pounds, 6 ounces. Broadlands Heritage No. 1 took second place with 11 pounds, two ounces.

Neoga, consisting of fishermen Riley Durdel and Landon Titus, advanced with 7 pounds, 15 ounces. The Neoga head coach is Terry Althoff while the driver is Pat O'Dell.

The State Final Tournament will be held Friday, May 20 at Carlyle Lake.

Newton, South Central and Teutopolis competed at the Newton Lake Sectional.

Winning that sectional was Flora No. 2 with 16.64 pounds followed by Olney No. 1 with 15.91 pounds and Oblong No. 1 with 15.82 pounds. Those three teams advance to State.

Newton No. 1 finished sixth with 15.27 pounds and Newton No. 2 finished 14th with 11.21 pounds.

Teutopolis No. 1 finished seventh with 14.64 pounds while Teutopolis No. 2 was 12th with 11.3 pounds.

South Central No. 2 finished 10th with 12.49 pounds and South Central No. 1 took 13th with 11.72 pounds.
