Garland Captures First DG Win of Season

Joseph Garland wasted no time in capturing his first disc golf tournament victory for 2022. He accomplished it in his first tournament of the season.

Garland captured the Advanced Division championship Saturday at the Blackhawk Basket Bash in Centralia, firing a nine-under 129. The Teutopolis resident posted a four-under 65 in the first round and followed that up with a five-under 64. Garland scored 12 birdies against three bogeys. It was his ninth career victory.

Stewardson's Mark Jones finished tied for fourth at +3. Jones went -1 in his first round, then +4 in his second round. Effingham's Andy Burgholzer finished sixth at +4 with rounds of +4 and even par. Mattoon's Cole Mintert finished tied for 10th at +8, going +4 in both rounds.

In the Intermediate Division, Tyler Warner of Mattoon finished second at -6, Bob Feldhake of Dieterich was ninth at even par, and Marty Ellison of Olney finished 10th at +5.

In the Recreational Division, Tim "Big Country" Dunahee of Vandalia was the winner at -14, going 54 and 46. Ben Keller of Effingham finished fifth at -4, Ben Feldhake of Teutopolis tied for 14th at even par, and Anthony Feldhake of Teutopolis tied for 20th at +2.

In the Novice Division, Marvin Lindsay of Vandalia finished 22nd at +19.
