Hall of Fame horse trainer Bob Baffert sued Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, and track leadership Tuesday, seeking to overturn his two-year suspension.

The track suspended Baffert last spring, citing failed drug tests by his horses, including Medina Spirit after he won the Kentucky Derby.

Kentucky racing stewards last week disqualified Medina Spirit, recognizing runner-up Mandaloun as the Derby winner, and gave Baffert a 90-day suspension and $7,500 fine.

Medina Spirit died in December following a workout.
