EHS Competed In Murdale Wrestling Tourney

CARBONDALE -- Jon Perry claimed third place for Effingham High School in the 152 pound division at the 60th Annual Murdale Wrestling Tournament during the weekend by going 4-1.

Perry downed Case of Harrisburg with a pin in 1:20. He then won over Coffey of Herrin with a pin in 1:08. Perry pinned Cammack of Mount Vernon in :59. He fell to Dampier of Marion by a pin in :25. He won over Banz of Carbondale in 3:42 to place third.

Kaiden Stewart claimed three victories at 106 pounds. He won over Hallam of Fairfield with a pin in :55, downed Hughes of  West Frankfort with a pin in 1:38 and won over Courter of Benton with a pin in :48. He finished 3-1.

Wyatt Haycraft and Saul Ellis also picked up three wins each.

Haycraft downed Hinkle of Trico with a pin in 1:50. He then won over Paddock of Olney with a pin in 3:48 and downed Wright of Anna-Jonesboro with a pin in 3:35. He finished 3-2.

Ellis also finished 3-2. His wins came after two losses. He won over Baker of Pinckneyville wth a pin in :52. He claimed an 18-8 decison over Khy of Marion and then pinned Falletta of Trico in 1:33.
