Effingham High School Fall Sports Award Winners

Effingham High School athletes in the sports of boys and girls golf, girls tennis, boys and girls cross country, soccer and volleyball were presented with awards and letters at the fall sports ceremonies. Also honored was girls swimming.

In girls golf, the Player of the Year was Marah Kirk. The Sportsmanship award went to Elena Niebrugge while the Most Improved award went to Ella Niebrugge.

Letterwinners were Coralin Ohnesorge, Anna Hirtzel, Marah Kirk, Ella Niebrugge, Marissa Allie, Emilie Vincent and Elena Niebrugge.

Winning Effingham High School girls golf awards were, left to right, Elena NIebrugge, Ella Niebrugge and Marah Kirk.

Capturing boys golf awards were Colby Haynes for Most Valuable Player, David Splechter for Most Improved Player and Jett Volpi for Best Underclassman.

Lettermen were Ryker Schneider, Nick Burgess, Ethan Ritz, Jett Volpi, Joe Matteson, Brayden Pals, Colby Haynes, David Splechter, Ryan Smith and Max Hardiek.

Winning Effingham High School boys golf awards were Colby Haynes and not pictured, David Splechter and Jett Volpi.

Awards in the sport of girls tennis went to Madison Mapes (Most Valuable Singles Player, Holly Nosbisch Sportsmanship Award), Lydia Kull (Most Valuable Doubles Player), Aila Woomer (Most Valuable Doubles Player), Izzy Volpi (Most Improved Player) and Kaitlyn Parker (Most Supportive Teammate).

Letterwinners were Lydia Kull, Eden Wendling, Madison Mapes, Aila Woomer, Gracie Kroenlein, Izzy Volpi, Abby Kyle, Lauren Pierson and Ariel Rubin.

Cross country awards for both boys and girls were presented. For the boys, Aaron Hill won Most Improved, Andrew Donaldson claimed Most Valuable Runner), Jon Perry picked up the Spirit award and Garrett Wagoner and Adam Flack claimed the HEARTS award.

Lettermen were Andrew Donaldson, Garrett Wagoner, Adam Flack, Jon Perry and Aaron Hill.

For the girls, Morgan Springer was named Most Improved, Jessica Larson won the Most Valuable Runner award, Haddie Hill claimed the Spirit award and Allison Miller and Kayleigh Koester captured the HEARTS award.

Letterwinners were Jessica Larson, Kayleigh Koester, Haddie Hill, Morgan Springer and Allison Miller.

Soccer awards were presented. Brandon Duncan won the Defensive award while Gerrad Herrera claimed the Offensive award. Gabe Koester was named Most Improved and Jackson Doedtman Most Valuable Player. Jeridyn Thomas won the Heart of the Team award. Aiden Hanks was named Most Valuable Underclassman. Capturing the Underclassman Offensive award was Sam Spicer while the Underclassman Defensive award went to Kendrick Nantes.

Varsity volleyball awards went to Lexi Chrappa (Hitting, Captain), Krista Phillips (Most Blocks), Kennedy Sowell (Most Blocks), Sawyer Althoff (Most Digs, Hustle), Mattie Angel (Serving, Captain) and Tori Budde (Most Assists).

Letterwinners were Bria Beals, Brueklyn Belcher, Kennedy Sowell, Krista Phillips, Lexi Chrappa, Mattie Angel, Megan Ballman, Sawyer Althoff, Tori Budde, Riley Cunningham and Sidney Donaldson.

Winning junior varsity volleyball awards were, Raegan Boone (Hitting), Abby Cunningham (Setting),Saige Althoff (Hustle) and Olivia Katt (Most Improved).
