Disc Golf Update for September

Here's a look at how area disc golfers fared in tournaments during the month of September:

In the Cody Drew Classic in Decatur over Labor Day weekend, Andy Burgholzer of Effingham finished eighth in Advanced Division, shooting +8 118 with rounds of 57 and 61. In Intermediate, Cole Mintert of Mattoon finished third with an even par 110 on rounds of 51 and 59. In Recreational, Ben Keller of Effingham finished in a tie for second at +8 118 with rounds of 56 and 62. 

Other local players competed September 5 in Mikey Beal's Foundation Flex in Centralia. In Intermediate Division, Bob Feldhake of Dieterich finished fourth with a +6 75, Anthony Feldhake finished seventh with a +10 79, Ben Feldhake was eighth with a +11 80, and Doug Feldhake tied for 10 with a +17 86. 

The following week, the 2021 Championship at Pride's Creek was held in Petersburg, Indiana. Mark Jones of Effingham finished in a six-way tie for fifth place with a -8 112 total on rounds of 55 and 57. 

At the 2021 Van Man Discs SoIL Tour at Silver Lake in Highland, Big Country won the Novice Division with a +13 135 with rounds of 65 and 70, while Marvin Lindsay finished seventh with a 167 total. 

Mark Jones played September 25-26 in the Indiana State Championships held in Nashville, Indiana. Competing in the Advanced Division, Jones tied for 10th with a 192 total on rounds of  56, 68, and 68. 

Over this weekend, Brad Livingston competed in the 23rd Annual Capital City Challenge in Springfield Saturday and finished 10th in Novice Division with a +22 133 with rounds of 65 and 68. 

In the Guardian of the Woods III in Evansville Saturday, Marty Ellison of Olney competed in the Amateur Masters +40 and finished fifth with a +8 122, with rounds of 58 and 64.

Most local and area disc golfers will be staying home this coming weekend to compete in the 2021 Battle at the Crossroads, to be held at Community Park in Effingham. The event is sponsored by Effingham Disc Golf Evangelists, or EDGE. Participants will play two 20-hole rounds. The first round will start at 9:15am.
