PARIS, IL -- A trio of harness horses with local and area connections scored victories Monday evening in the Illinois Big Ten Colt Stakes at the Edgar County Fair.

Spoken For, trained and driven by Darla (Martin) Lohman of Effingham, was the first to strike, capturing the Big Ten event for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings. Owned by the Estate of Dean Debolt, Spoken For won for the second time this season on the Big Ten circuit and for the third time overall, stopping the timer in 2:10.2.

In the Big Ten Stakes for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings, Hidalgo Howie prevailed in 2:18.3 for owner-trainer-driver Harold Finn Jr. and co-owner Jacqueline Ford of Newton. Hidalgo Howie won for the second consecutive week, after notching a victory on July 12 at the Wayne County Fair in Fairfield.

Kandi's Fortune continued her winning ways in the Big Ten race for three-year-old pacing fillies, scoring in 2:05 for owners Brian and Kandi Herzog of Beecher City and trainer-driver Freddie Patton Jr. Kandi's Fortune has now won six of her last seven starts, with Monday's triumph marking her fifth consecutive victory.
