Area Teams Compete In Clay Target League National Championships

MASON, MICHIGAN -- Six area teams sent athletes to the 2021 Clay Target League National Championships during the past weekend in Mason, Michigan.

Teutopolis finished 24th as a team while Effingham was 62nd out of 160 teams competing. There were also individuals from Altamont, Cumberland, Dieterich and Stewardson-Strasburg competing.

T-town scored 463 the first day and 465 the second day for a team total of 928.

Individually, the Wooden Shoes' John Bloemer was 74th with 96-97 -- 193. He was followed by teammates Kolten Koester 169th with 97-93 -- 190, Chance Borries 280th with 94-93 -- 187 and Kolten Tedrick 319th with 95-90 -- 185 out of 1,600 plus shooters.

Also competing for the Shoes were Justin Hardiek, Conner Beckman and Derek Hewing.

Effingham tallied 896 with 450 the first day and 446 the second day.

"We want everyone interested from EHS to check out the team's fall league," said Coach Amy Kohnert. "Signup is in August for ninth through 12th grades. Just mesasge through EHS trap team on our Facebook page if you're interested in competing for EHS."

For the Hearts were Brandon Walls 108th with 96-96 -- 192, Kaiden Kohnert 414th with 93-0 -- 93, Colby Haynes 477th with 92-0 -- 92, Connor Thompson 537th with 91-0 -- 91, Ann Feldhake 91-0 -- 91, William Kreke 89-0 -- 89, Colton Loy 85-0 -- 85 and Tyler Feldhake 78-0 -- 78.

Dieterich had four shooters participating. Ethan Heuerman was 143rd with 97-94 -- 191, John Hoslte 178th with 95-95 -- 190, Brayden Hahn 315th with 93-92 -- 185 and Jacob Beckman with 88-0 -- 88.

Cumberland also had four participating. Jackson Carlen finished 175th with 94-96 -- 190, Lucas Smith with 89-0 -- 89, Reid Carlen with 79-0 and Hayleigh Chartraw with 73-0.

Altamont's Devon Sloan was 239th with 96-92 -- 188 and Clayton Haarmann with 65-0 -- 65.
