Memorial Day Weekend Found Disc Golfers Everywhere

The Memorial Day weekend found local disc golfers everywhere.

Most of the activity was on Monday, including the Memorial Day Bash IV in Morton, and the Plastic Addicts Memorial Day Open in Centralia.

Joseph Garland, Mark Jones and Andrew Burgholzer of Effingham traveled to Morton, and each played in the Advanced Division. The two-round event featured one round on the Megiddo Course and one round on the super-tough Northwood Gold course.

Garland shot even par 57 at Megiddo, then finished +5 69 at Northwood Gold. Garland's Gold course round was one shot off the best round of the day. He finished tied for third for the tournament. 

Jones finished tied for 10th on the day at +11, shooting a 54 at Megiddo and 78 at Northwood Gold for a 132 total.

Burgholzer finished tied for 24th with a +25 146 total on the day.

Meanwhile, several disc golfers headed to Centralia. Alex Schimmelpfenning of Effingham played in the Open Division, and finished tied for seventh with a -1 135 total featuring rounds of 67 and 68.

In the Advanced Division, Cole Mintert of Mattoon finished fourth at +1 137 with rounds of 71 and 66.

In the Recreational Division, Bob Feldhake of Dieterich finished fourth with a -3 111 total with scores of 53 and 58.

Andrew "Butter" Miller and Ben Ruholl of Effingham tied for 11th place, each shooting 57 and 61 for a +4 118 total. Paul Jones of Effingham tied for 16th place, going +7 with rounds of 60 and 61 for a 121 total.

In the Novice Division, Doug Feldhake of Effingham finished 11th with a +23 137 total, with rounds of 66 and 71.

Also, Mark Jones' Monday round at Morton followed competition Saturday and Sunday in a tournament in Monrovia, Indiana, where he finished ninth at +7 going 68-60-109 for his three rounds. The third round was on a 27-hole course.
