Kentucky Derby winner Medina Spirit has tested positive for elevated levels of the drug betamethasone. The test revealed more than double the levels of the anti-inflammatory drug allowed in Kentucky racing.

Sunday, Churchill Downs suspended trainer Bob Baffert from entering horses at its track. Baffert vigorously denies Medina Spirit was improperly medicated.

The three-year-old colt won the Derby at Churchill Downs on May 1. A retest of the sample will determine if he keeps his crown.
