Medina Spirit Wins Kentucky Derby For Baffert

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Bob Baffert set a record for his seventh career victory when Medina Spirit crossed the finish line in the 2021 Kentucky Derby Saturday.

Medina Spirit took the lead and led most of the way in the win for jockey John Velazquez.

Mandaloun and Hot Rod Charlie finished second and third, respectively, with prerace favorite Essential Quality taking fourth.
Next up is the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course in two weeks. Baffert is quiet on whether Medina Spirit will compete.
