Majors' Victory Tops Busy Weekend for Local Disc Golfers

On a busy disc golf weekend, a local player brought home a championship.

Hadley Majors of Effingham won the Intermediate Division title at The Nashville Chill sponsored by Westside Discs Sunday in Nashville, Indiana.

Majors went -16 to win the championship by three shots. He fired a -5 in his first round and then went -11 in the second round with 12 birdies against just one bogey. Majors had eight birdies in his first round.

Cole Mintert of Mattoon tied for top honors in the Recreational Division at -12, going -5 in the first round and -7 in the second round with eight birdies in each round. He lost a one-hole playoff for the title. 

Ben Ruholl finished fifth in Recreational, going even in his first round, then -1 in his second round with seven birdies on the day.

In the Advanced Division, Joseph Garland of Effingham finished third at -18, including -10 in the second round during which he birdied five straight holes and seven of eight. Garland finished with 20 birdies on the day.

Mark Jones of Effingham finished fifth on the day at -15 with rounds of -7 and -8, including 17 birdies in his two rounds.

Three of the locals also competed Saturday at Basket Case #3 at Mesker Park in Evansville.

Garland started well with a -7 in his first round and was tied for the lead, then played an even par second round to finish five shots back. 

Jones finished +3 for the day, going +3 in his first round and shooting even par in his second round to finish tied for 12th.

Both Garland and Jones played in the Advanced Division.

In the Recreational Division, Mintert finished second at -2, going -1 in each round, and finishing four shots off the winning score.
