Effingham Disc Golfer Wins First Tournament He Enters; Another Posted First Tournament Win; Others Had High Finishes

An Effingham disc golfer won the first PDGA tournament he entered Saturday.

Paul Stice picked up the win in the Novice Division of the Blizzard in the Forest Tournament in Brazil, Indiana.

Stice won the event with a three-under 117, and was the only player in the division to finish under par.

(COLE MINTERT)

Also picking up his first tournament win was Cole Mintert of Mattoon. Mintert went seven-under 113 to win the Recreational Division over 20 other players. Also in Recreational, Ben Keller of Effingham finished tied for fourth at two-under.with a pair of 59s. Bob Feldhake of Effingham finished 14th at four-over, finishing 63-61.

In the Intermediate Division, Hadley Majors of Effingham tied for second place at 10-under with a pair of 55s. Majors was one shot off the lead. Ben Ruholl tied for sixth place at three-under, going 57-60.

In the Advanced Division, Joseph Garland of Effingham finished third with a 12-under 108, going 53-55, racking up 19 birdies on the day. Mark Jones of Effingham finished fourth with an 11-under 109, finishing 54-55.
