Hundreds gathered in Springfield Saturday to rally support for letting high school football teams and other high school sports return to play. Darren Sunkett, the head football coach at East St. Louis, says kids need the structure of playing and competing.

Sunkett wants this rally and even more like them to keep the pressure on the Governor and Illinois Department of Public Health to change the rules for contact sports.

Effingham High School varsity football coach Brett Hefner and his son, Beau, a member of the Hearts football squad were among those in attendance in
Springfield for that rally.

A rally in Chicago was held in conjunction with the event in Springfield.
