The rescheduling of the Indianapolis 500 earlier this year may have been a blessing for the IndyCar race at World Wide Technology Raceway and a Monday announcement may have been another. The former Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison will now host a doubleheader as IndyCar has had to cancel a couple of races on the west coast due to heatlh restrictions in Oregon and California.

So that means two races on consecutive days: August 29 and 30. Track spokesman John Bisci says they will be taking numerous safety precautions that weekend.

There is expected to be added interest in this race weekend, as it is the last oval track race of the season and what is expected to be the final races for IndyCar veteran Tony Kannan before he retires from the series at the end of the year.
