Thomas Waerner Wins Iditarod Race

Norwegian musher Thomas Waerner crossed the finish line in Nome Wednesday to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, the sport's most famous competition, in just his second attempt.

Waerner won the nearly 1,000-mile across the Alaskan wilderness in nine days, 10 hours, 37 minutes and 47 seconds, beating second-place finisher and three-time winner Mitch Seavey by six hours.
