EHS Competitive Cheerleading Squad Headed to State

The Effingham High School Competitive Cheerleading squad is headed to State competition for the first time in school history.

The EHS squad, headed by Dana Koester, competed in Carterville on Saturday and scored an 85.5, finishing third of 16 competing teams. The top five teams advanced to State. Effingham qualified in the Medium Squad division. The finals will take place at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington this Friday.

The small/medium division squads will begin competition at 9am. EHS will perform at approximately 12:50pm.

Friday's top 10 finishers from each division will advance to the finals on Saturday beginning at 11am.

Squad members are Madilynn Stortzum, Hope Monnet, Zoe Hodge, Riley Arend, Ella Harmon, Mycha Donaldson, Madi Griffy, Anna Sigg, Savannah Morrissey, Bella Kronewitter, Regan Hopper, Logann Mayfield, Kaylee Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Gabbi Kreke, Hallee Lewis, Aila Woomer and Maddie Rieman. Ashley Kreke and Lisa Sigg assist in coaching the EHS squad.

Some of the squad members will be our guests on The Drive Home just after the 5pm news this Wednesday.
