Gritty, the mascot of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, has been cleared of allegations he punched a 13-year-old fan in the back, police said Monday.

Chris Greenwell had alleged that after he and son Brandon met Gritty at an event and posed for a photo, Brandon patted Gritty on the head and they left, but as the boy walked away, Gritty ran after him and “punched my son as hard as he could.” But police said Monday their investigation found that “the actions of the individual portraying the Flyers’ mascot did not constitute physical assault as alleged.”
