EHS Wrestlers Capture Top Spots at Tourney

ROBINSON -- Five Effingham High School wrestlers finished in the top six at the Eastern Illinois Wrestling Tournament at Robinson High School Saturday.

Colin Marschewski was the top finisher taking second place at 138 pounds. Marschewski claimed three straight victories, two with pins in :24 and 4:54 and an 11-8 decision. He fell in the title contest to finish second.

Edgar Castillo finished fourth in the 160 pound division. Castillo won with a pin in 4:46 before falling in the next two rounds.

Zac Slifer captured sixth place at 145 pounds. He lost his opener but took three victories in a row with pins in 2:37, 1:47 and 3:15 before losing again.

Ryan Smith lost his opener at 152 pounds before taking two wins with pins in :51 and 3:45 before dropping a loss to finish sixth.

Wyatt Sparks took sixth at 170 pounds. He won his opener with a pin in 1:15 before losing. He then claimed two straight victories with pins in :23 and 2:59 before losing again to take sixth.
